"Epidemic . . .  Over" are a blend of hard hitting guitars, emotional vocals, and pounding beats all held together by tight and driving bass lines.  With their own blend of progressive rock/alternative/metal, each track is a breath of fresh air, filled to the brim with emotion and raw energy.

"Epidemic . . . Over" began performing their original music in the early parts of 2007.  Since their first show the band has notched up many supports and other regular shows.  Some of the bands "Epidemic . . . Over" have played with include Dead Letter Circus, The Wrath, Glasshouse, Dexters Conscience, The Paper and The Plane, Ellington, This Collision and heaps more.

Mid 2007 saw the band head into Modern Music Studios (The Butterfly Effect, The Small Mercies) to record their debut self titled EP, under Producer/Engineer Stuart Niven (The Small Mercies, Nina May, This Collision).  The five tracks on the EP show that the band have very diverse and professional song writing capabilities.  The band funded the recording themselves, which shows how passionate each member is.  After gaining support from a local business, "Epidemic . . . Over" have been able to finish what they started by releasing the EP.  Although only being sold at a couple of independent stores and by the band, sales have been going strong.

"Epidemic . . . Over" are now hitting the promotional trail, trying to secure as many shows with as many bands they can.  With what they achieved in less than a year, 2008 could be an exciting year for "Epidemic . . . Over".

The Callide Valley Music Club was started a little over twelve months ago as an initiative of Anglicare Biloela.  It was formed to provide a vehicle for young people in the 12-24 year age range with an interest in music, to come together and share their enthusiasm and talent.  It came out of an idea Dan Giles shared with Gillian Mason-Johnson of Anglicare.

The idea was to be able to give hope, and a love of music, as a vehicle for suicide prevention.  Dan Giles soon conscripted the help of other local music professionals, among them Gary Pratt, Kurt Pleavin and Sam Louis, to lead and guide the less experienced musicians.  At first the tunes were quite un-coordinated, but soon Dan and the crew started to get the young people playing together.  Anglicare Youth Worker Lyn Webb and volunteers from the Anglican Church provide practical back up and support. The group meets for a Jam session at the St. Gabriel’s Ministry Centre every second Thursday night.

Some of the more experienced musicians in the club have already formed their own bands and played at a couple of gigs, including on Anzac night at the Civic Centre and the Junior Rugby League break up.  One group of 14 year olds, the “Loose Endz”, have been accepted into the band competition at the Gladstone Harbour Festival.  A couple of the groups also plan to play at the up coming Biloela Rockfest.  Cover songs by popular bands such as “Silverchair” and the “Foo Fighters” are being re-arranged and performed.  With the help of music workshops sponsored by the Arts Council, some are even writing their own originals.  Not bad for musicians who just over a year ago had trouble stringing a tune together.

The main criteria laid down are that the young people are not exposed to drugs at alcohol at the gigs. Most of all, there is an acceptance for those who come to listen or play. We ask for your support for this youth work that has been so boldly undertaken, and seek encouragement for each of the young people involved, that they might continue find a place of acceptance where they can develop as young people and as musicians.

After many years of performing live, this band already has a large and loyal fan base. 2008 is the year that will see them record their debut album, and their frenetic pace will see them as a constant on the music scene. They are already heavily booked to perform live, will feature as the headlining act in a monthly music event, and are committed to various music festivals, offering them numerous opportunities to promote their upcoming album.

Each member of Whyte Zebra brings their own musical influences to the band; from roots to country through to heavy rock. It is these very differences that has seen the development of a unique bond, respect and passion for all kinds of music.

Andy Stanhope started his music career as a solo artist performing at local pubs, corporate functions and parties. Through this network of musicians he met an 18 year old percussionist, Tom Whyte. Tom’s ability and passion for percussion saw the two combine their skills to strengthen Andy’s already developed unique style. It wasn’t until an interview with the local newspaper that it occurred to the young duo that they would need a name. With a deadline looming, they derived the name from Andy’s nickname ‘Zebra’ and Tom’s surname to form ‘Whyte Zebra’. Shortly after they met bass extraordinaire Steve Quinn. It was not long before Whyte Zebra was booked out every weekend.

Whyte Zebra strive to approach every occasion with the same professional attitude, whether performing gigs at pubs/clubs, weddings, corporate dinners, parties, festivals, original nights, or support gigs. With this attitude, Whyte Zebra operates as a business venture as well as a band.
